(NOT) an AWS Solution Architect Certification Practice Test

For the last few days I've been playing around with the AWS Solution Architect Certification practice tests provided by both Wiley and a few other try before you buy ones online. So far I've found them frustrating as the questions are either "obvious", impossible, or wrong.  Some of the questions make incorrect simplifications (or just don't supply enough details to make any of the answers more correct than another), or are just plain wrong (e.g. none of the answers are actually correct when you double check the AWS docs).  So I've decided to make up my own practice questions. Have a go and see if you can do it! (there's no right answers by the way).

Question 1:  What is the best animal to finish the following sentence? "Fail X" Dog? Cat? Fish? Whale? Pot plant?

Question 2: Think of a number between: -100 and 1 million?

Question 3: What are possible problems using AWS? The pricing may change without notice making a cheap solution more expensive than the expensive solution? Arbitrary and random throttling? Hitting limits? Inability to monitor application performance inside AWS managed services? Bill-shock? Economic DDOS? All of the above?

Question 4: Name all of the AWS services (right now!)

Question 5: Which AWS services are interoperable? Theoretically? Usefully?

Question 6: How much would it cost to run the Australian Census on AWS and what services could/should you use? Would it work? (better than the actual attempt?

Question 7: Which of the following in NOT an AWS? (that I know of, just now):

Snowmobile, Snowball, Chime, X-Ray, Beanstalk, Device Farm, Device Pipeline, Code Pipeline, Poly, Lex, Shield?

Question 8: When should you cache dynamic content in CloudFront?  Always, whenever you feel like it, never, only on February the 29th?

AWS SWF vs Lambda + step functions? Simple answer is use Lambda for all new applications.

I do like my Lamb (daaaa)! What's the difference between SWF and Lambda + step functions? Well, for a start they can be used together. Benefits and Limitations of using Lambda Tasks There are a number of benefits of using Lambda tasks in place of a traditional Amazon SWF activity: Lambda tasks don’t need to be registered or versioned like Amazon SWF activity types. You can use any existing Lambda functions that you've already defined in your workflows. Lambda functions are called directly by Amazon SWF; there is no need for you to implement a worker program to execute them as you must do with traditional activities. Lambda provides you with metrics and logs for tracking and analyzing your function executions. There are also a number of limitations regarding Lambda tasks that you should be aware of: Lambda tasks can only be run in AWS regions that provide support for Lambda. "Name or Number please?" So the 1st telephones systems were point to point, and then hub and spoke. You rang the local exchange, asked to talk to Auntie Jill and the "operator" (think the Matrix) would ring Auntie Jill's phone and connect you (literally with a patch cord) once Auntie Jill had answered. If you wanted to talk to someone not on the local network the operator would call another operator (how did they know which one?) and ask to them to connect and you would eventually get patched through.
